In fact the demand for more visual content is actually increasing. There will always be a place for written content, it helps with your search ranking and SEO, and sometimes it helps explain things a little better. However not everyone takes in information the same. For those of us that are more visual learners visual content is very effective. Here are some things to consider when developing a visual content strategy.


Creating visual content is going to take some investment. Either investment of time or investment of money. You want to make sure that your visual content is worth your investment. Consider the ROI. Is it worth it? If you haven’t tried it, then how do you know? Are you measuring your success? An important step in determining your ROI is consulting your analytics reports. You won’t know how effective a particular campaign is without measuring the results somehow.


Maintaining your brand is another important part of visual content. Visual content is actually a great way to strengthen your brand, so make sure you incorporate your brand into your visual content. Which ever area you are focusing on, be it video, infographics, or images make sure its a good fit. Not all areas with work with your brand and that’s okay. Simply putting out a meme because they are popular is the wrong approach. Be authentic, be relevant. Don’t force something, let your visual content be a natural part of your brand.


When it comes to visual content it doesn’t all have to come from you. Include other people on your team. You may be surprised by the level of creativity others might have. A different perspective can be very useful in creating a strong visual content campaign. Letting others assist with your visual content also helps free up a little of your time and gets others involved in the work that effects them, which leads to better employee engagement, which then leads to a better customer service experience for your customers.

  • Do use a variety

  • Do incorporate your brand


  • Don’t use a bunch of stock images

  • Don’t overuse, remember too much of a good thing is actually a bad thing

  • Don’t use long videos
