Coming Soon,, 12/08/2016

With local directory sites like Yelp and Angie’s list dominating a lot of home services searches, Google has decided they want to get a piece of the pie. With local directory listings often appearing at the top of search results, instead of referring searchers to outside pages, Google will now seek to keep them on their platform longer with Google Home Services ads. Over the last several month Google has been testing their new Google Home Services in the San Francisco market, and could soon start offering Google Home Services in a city near you. So what does this mean for your plumbing marketing?

Google Home Services for Plumbing Companies

What is Google Home Services?

Google Home Services is designed to connect searcher with home service professionals like: plumbers, locksmiths, cleaning services, HVAC technicians, and Electricians. The user simply needs to enter their zip code and type of service they are interested in and viola! They will be provided with local service professionals in their area. Instead of traditional ads appearing at the top, search results will feature service providers that meet the chosen criteria. This cleans up the search results quite a bit, to make for a more relevant search results with less distraction. With this new approach, organic results are able to feature higher up on the page. Evidently Google Home Service could replace traditional PPC ads, with more faith being put in Google Home Services ads because the service providers have been verified by Google. Google Home Service ads are actually more affordable for service providers than other traditional Adwords Ads; which also helps out the service providers.

How Do You Get Featured?

In order to be featured in Google Home Services service providers have to apply. The guidelines in order to be accepted are: service provider must be licensed, bonded, and insured, pass a background check, and have good credibility and a proven track record of customer satisfaction. Positive reviews on your Google Local Business Page can help strengthen your credibility and prove your reputation.

What Should You Do in The Meantime?

While testing has only begun in a small demographic, its anticipated that Google will be expanding Google Home Services soon to both desktop and mobile users. With this in mind service providers are encouraged to improve their existing Google Local Business listings and/or verify their business with Google Local, in order to expand their local visibility.
