Coming Soon! Google Local Services Ads Coming to a City Near You!

April 20th, 2018

We’ve been talking about Google Home Services for some time now. Recently Google began to incorporate other services that take place outside of the home, into their Google Home Services platform. This allows for more industries to take advantage of the benefits offered by Google Home Service ads. If you are just tuning in, you may be wondering how Google Local Services ads vary from traditional adwords. Here is the breakdown and how you can benefit from running Google Local Services ads.

How Do Local Services Ads Show Up in Search?

One of the biggest questions people have about Local Services ads, is how do they show up in search? Local services ads appear at the top of search results, where the sponsored ads previously appeared. There are 3 ads that are presented, which meet the search criteria specified. Google has tried to present the most relevant search results for users, and instead of referring the traffic out to other sites, like Yelp or Angie’s List, they have resorted to created service provider ads that are accessible and accurate to the query.

How Do I Get Involved?

In order to run Local Services ads, service providers need to apply. There is also the Google Guarantee that requires a background check on all technicians. Proof of licensing and insurance is also required. Google also requires service providers to update any employee information and periodically, re-certify that all information is accurate and up to date. The Google Guarantee backs the services performed, with some restrictions. The Google Guarantee appears as a badge on the ad.

Ranking Factors

There are a couple of things that Google takes into consideration when it comes to which ads get featured. One of the most important things is proximity to user, as well as accuracy in terms of the search criteria. In addition, Google also takes Google Local Services adsinto consideration your reputation on Google Local. If you have a Google Local account, take an inventory of your reviews and ratings. Service providers with the highest rankings, will take preference. Also make sure all of your business information is accurate. Your posted hours of operation can also have an effect on if your ad gets featured or not.

  • In the US

  • Internet Explorer users(which leads way to less tech savvy users)

  • In the 35 + age bracket

As a plumber looking to advertise on Bing this is really handy information. Knowing what types of people are using various search engines can help you better create advertising campaigns that will be more effective in converting.

One really great reason to consider advertising on Bing is that because it is the lesser used search platform there is less competition. Yes there aren’t as many users, buy because of the type of people using Bing you get more quality visibility. Quality over quantity is really important to consider when increasing conversions.

Which leads us to our next point. Advertising on Bing is less expensive than advertising on Google because it is less competitive. SEO or PPC – What is Better for Plumbing Marketing?

SEO or PPC – What is Better for Plumbing Marketing?

September 27th, 2013

plumbing marketingWhen it comes to plumbing marketing there are many options available. The best approach to plumbing marketing is to decipher which plumbing marketing options best suit your business. Is SEO right for your company? What about PPC, or pay per click advertising? Both can benefit your plumbing company, but how and when to use them is key. If you have a website, chances are you have heard of both plumbing marketing tactics, but if you are still unsure of these options here is the breakdown.

SEO, search engine optimization is a plumbing marketing tool where keywords are placed within the websites content, via body text, blogs, meta tags, alt tags etc. These keywords help search engines rank your website higher on search results. In short the idea behind SEO is that if you mention “plumbing company” a certain amount of times within your webpage, the search engine will rank your webpage higher. The goal is to be on the first page of Google or Bing. SEO tactics generally garner more organic search results, meaning that the search results are more relevant to the term being searched. Given the right set of keywords, this method can gain great results for your plumbing marketing, however it doesn’t happen over night. In order to be successful with this type of plumbing marketing, you need to be consistent and willing to put in the time.

PPC, pay per click advertising is pretty much what it sounds like. Users pay to place their ads at the very top or to the side of search results. When utilizing this method for plumbing marketing you will definitely gain exposure, however it doesn’t always guarantee click throughs. Recent research has found the consumers are less likely to click on paid advertising ads then the general results on the first page of the search results. Keeping this in mind, brand association has a lot to do with this. Research shows that recognizable brands have much success with this method, which can be good for plumbing marketing if for example you are part of a well known plumbing franchise.

In the end both plumbing marketing methods will get results. PPC is designed to get results faster than SEO, but at a higher cost. SEO takes time to gain results but has a longer run time than PPC. If you are just starting your plumbing marketing campaign start practicing your SEO and occasionally run a paid ad. This way you are building up your momentum with SEO but also getting results from your PPC ads. This method is friendly to your plumbing marketing budget, but also helps strategize your plumbing marketing. Remember to be consistent with your plumbing marketing efforts to get the best results!
