Your profile picture is the first thing that people will see about your business. So it is a very important aspect of using social media for plumbing marketing. A profile picture should be professional and allow people to automatically associate it with your business. Here are some tips to help you choose the right profile picture to use with social media for plumbing marketing.

1) A headshot is definitely preferred for a profile picture. You want to focus on you not everything around you. It looks more professional and doesn’t leave room for distraction. After all you are selling you and your business when using social media for plumbing marketing so focus on what it important. Group photos, and photos from out in the field can be used in subsequent pictures.

2) Avoid using your logo as your profile picture. Yes it is important to maintain your brand, but people resonate with people and unless you have a big household brand they might not be so inclined to join your network. You should display your logo within your profile as your cover photo and definitely use it when creating a business page i.e.: Facebook fan page, Google local, etc… but your actual profile picture should be a picture of you.

3)  Keep your profile picture simple. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it doesn’t even need to be taken professionally. A simple picture with you wearing a shirt with your company logo will do. Avoid hats, sunglasses, and busy backgrounds. No group photos or pictures with your dog either; this does not display professionalism. You can share other photos as content if you like, but keep stick to the basics when it comes to your profile picture.

4) Keep your profile picture clean. You don’t want to offend anyone and you definitely don’t want anything offensive associated with your brand. This goes across the board when using social media for plumbing marketing. Be nice and try to remain a little transparent.

5) Be consistent with your profile picture when using social media for plumbing marketing. Use the same profile picture for all of the social media sites you are using for plumbing marketing. This helps develop your brand and maintains your professionalism.

6) Remember to smile. A smile really does go a long way even with plumbing marketing. It shows that you are genuine and approachable. Plus it takes fewer muscles to smile then it does to frown!
